Simplified Procedures for Managing Insecticidal Waste: A Case Report of KCMUCo-PAMVERC Vector Control Product Testing Facility in North-Eastern Tanzania

Insecticide testing facilities that evaluate a variety of vector control products may generate large number hazardous wastes from routine operations. These originate degraded technical grade materials, sprayed substrates with Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS), and redundant stock or working insecticidal solutions. The washing Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) during preparation for laboratory experimental hut trials also contribute to wastewater insecticide content. Human environmental exposure waste can occur transport, categorization, storage, disposal, resulting in pollution potential health effects.
